1st Place: Patricia Kind Family Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to financially support organizations that help children, adults, and seniors in need obtain physical and mental healthcare and related human services, including food, shelter, clothing and education in the Philadelphia area. We are especially committed to helping individuals and families who struggle daily with the effects of poverty.

Chrissy Kind, Managing Trustee of the Foundation, says, “We hope our commitment to using more than just grants to make a difference in the community will serve as a catalyst to encourage other Foundations to make investments that align with their mission so their impact for good will go far beyond their 5% grant budget. This nomination is a validation of the ongoing work of our first managing trustee, Laura Kind McKenna, to promote mission aligned investing for Foundations.”

2nd Place: Independence Blue Cross Foundation. The IBC Foundation funds programs and initiatives that advance caring for our region’s most vulnerable, enhance healthcare delivery, and build healthy communities. At the heart of all we do is a set of core principles. Thought leadership: we act as a leading voice in addressing the greatest challenges facing our healthcare system. Innovation: we redefine the healthcare system to deliver quality, accessible, and affordable care to all. Collaboration: we work together with all stakeholders to address the needs of our community. Engagement: we raise awareness and empower our neighbors to take a more active role in the health of their community. Sustainability: we support the growth of a stronger and more viable healthcare system for future generations

3rd Place: United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey has, for nearly a century, responded to the needs of our local community while simultaneously addressing the root causes of key issues. We do this by inspiring and uniting the power of individuals, the business community, and the public and nonprofit sectors around common goals. Together, we’re able to drive real community impact in our neighborhoods, our communities, and our region. Together, we’re working to ensure that every individual and family is able to achieve educational success, financial stability and good health.
